Darien Warns Residents Of Fake Invoice Scam
The town said multiple residents have received phony invoices asking for payment via wire transfer only.
DARIEN, CT — The Town of Darien is warning residents about fake invoices that multiple residents have received lately.
According to the town, residents have received fake invoices claiming to be coming from the Darien Planning & Zoning Department.

A screenshot of one of the invoices shows an itemized breakdown of work that was completed, and instructions on how to send a payment by wire transfer only.
"The Town will never ask you to wire transfer funds. If you are ever in doubt about whether an invoice is real, feel free to reach out via phone to the specific Department," the town said via Facebook.
