Darien's 'Spirit Of The Season' Is Back For 2024

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Chamber of Commerce, Darien Parks & Recreation, and the Darien Sport Shop have announced the return of Darien’s "Spirit of the Season"— a festive collaboration celebrating community, holiday cheer, and local shopping.
Kicking off Thanksgiving weekend, this series of events is set to bring joy and excitement for all ages in town.

The festivities begin on Saturday, Nov. 30, with Shop Small Saturday.
The Chamber invites residents and visitors alike to support Darien’s local businesses and celebrate the spirit of community by shopping small. Local shops in downtown Darien will be opening their doors with special offers, discounts, and one-of-a-kind merchandise, making it the perfect day to discover unique gifts for everyone on your list. While shopping and dining, be sure to bask in the warm glow of holiday lights adorning Darien’s downtown lamp posts. These festively decorated streets are brought to you by the Chamber and symbolize peace, hope, and the joy of the season, encouraging community-wide celebrations, cultural traditions, shopping, and dining.
The holiday cheer continues with the Darien Sport Shop’s annual tree lighting on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Gather at 4:30 p.m. to enjoy holiday music, hot chocolate provided by the Boy Scouts, holiday music with the Darien High School Tudor Singers, mini candy canes from Parks & Rec, and a visit from Santa at 5 p.m. on a firetruck. New this year, give back with the Light the World Giving Machine.
Saturday, Dec. 7, brings "An Old Fashioned Holiday" at Tilley Pond, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. hosted by Darien Parks & Recreation. Enjoy caroling with the DHS Tudor Singers, crafts, cookie decorating, a holiday market, ice sculptures with a live ice sculpture demo, wish lanterns (available for pre-order here), photo opportunities, food trucks and more.
The "Spirit of the Season" concludes with a Channukah Celebration & Menorah Lighting at Grove Street Plaza on Dec. 26 at 6 p.m. The community is invited to be part of the 6-foot-tall menorah lighting, and enjoy songs, food, giveaways and kids' crafts. The menorah will be lit every night of Channukah at 6 p.m. by a different Jewish Darien family.
