Delivery Driver Assaulted In Darien, Police Say

Officers recently responded to a Darien residence for a reported altercation between a homeowner and delivery driver, police said.

DARIEN, CT — A delivery driver was assaulted during a dispute with a homeowner in Darien, according to police.

The homeowner, age 50, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. He was issued a misdemeanor summons.

On Nov. 13 at approximately 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a home on West Avenue for a reported altercation.

"The investigation determined that a verbal dispute escalated when the homeowner... spit on the delivery driver's vehicle and later attempted to close the driver's door on his leg, causing a minor injury," police said, noting the driver provided a sworn statement and video evidence.

The arrestee is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 4.
