Details Announced For 2024 Darien Veterans Day Ceremony

The town's annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place on Monday, Nov. 11 at Darien Town Hall.

DARIEN, CT — The Monuments and Ceremonies Commission of the Town of Darien will hold the annual Veterans Day observation on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m.

The ceremony will be held at Veterans’ Circle, located immediately in front of Darien Town Hall at 2 Renshaw Road.

The ceremony itself will begin at 10:45 a.m., and last 20 minutes. Members of VFW Post 6933 will raise the flag, then lower it to half-staff.

There will be a brief reading of the history of Armistice Day/Veterans Day, along with a reading of Canadian Lt. Col. John McCrae’s poem "In Flanders Field." This will be followed by the placement of memorial flowers and wreaths on the veterans’ markers.

Parking will be in the lower lot in front of Town Hall, or in the lot to the rear of the building.
