Dog Licensing Underway In Darien

Owners could face fines for not having their dogs licensed.

DARIEN, CT — Beginning June 1, all dogs over 6 months must be licensed in Darien. The deadline is June 30.

The fee is $8 for a neutered/spayed dog, and $19 for dogs that are not neutered or spayed, according to an announcement in First Selectman Monica McNally's recent newsletter.

All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination, and the certification must be presented when licensing. There will be a $1 per month late fee imposed for all licenses issued after June 30. Owners are subject to a $75 fine by the Darien Animal Control Officer if their dogs are not licensed.
