DARIEN, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Diane Schmidt-Fellner who nominated Katherine Mancini of Darien. Mancini volunteered more than 350 hours as a first responder with Darien EMS.

Relationship to nominee: Katherine is a First Responder with Darien EMS
Reason for recognition: Katherine has volunteered over 350 of hours on ambulance duty during the COVID crisis putting her health on the line. In addition, as head of OSHA , she spent hundreds more hours procuring PPE and providing training for everyone in our corps !
One thing to know: Katherine is generous with her time, talent and humor and we needed all of those very much in the past 5 months!
