Keynote Speaker Announced For Darien Memorial Day Ceremony
The ceremony will take place after the annual parade from the Goodwives Shopping Center to Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery.
DARIEN, CT — The Darien Monuments and Ceremonies Commission has announced the keynote speaker for the town's Memorial Day ceremony which will be held on Monday, May 27, at 11:30 a.m.
Robert H. "Bob" Patton will deliver remarks in Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery. Bob is the son of Maj. Gen.George Patton IV, a Korean and Vietnam War veteran, and the grandson of Gen. George S. Patton, a four star general who led the U.S. 7th Army in the Mediterranean Theater and then the 3rd Army in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in World War II.
Bob and his wife, Vicki, raised their four sons in Darien, three of whom are Darien residents. Bob is the author of six books, including "The Pattons: A Personal History of an American Family."

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the community room of the Darien Library.
