Longtime Darien Police Officer Promoted
The officer is currently a supervisor in the Darien Police Patrol Division.

DARIEN, CT — A longtime Darien police officer and a current supervisor in the department's patrol division has been promoted, according to an announcement from Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr.
Stuart Schwengerer, who previously served as a sergeant, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. An effective date will be determined in the coming days, Marron said.
"Congratulations to Lt. Schwengerer and we commend him for a job well done and wish him the best of luck in a new role within our agency," Marron added.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and a member of the Darien Police Department for 22 years, Schwengerer previously held positions on the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team, the Darien Police Honor Guard, and the DPD Marine Division.
Schwengerer has training in crisis intervention, is a longstanding firearms and patrol rifle instructor, use of force instructor, and also is an instructor for the department in blood borne pathogen incidents.

"I of course would also like to congratulate all of the candidates in this promotional process as they clearly put in a lot of hard work and are sure to continue to have promising careers within our agency. You all should be proud of your efforts and I thank you for that," Marron said.
A formal promotional ceremony for Schwengerer will be held at a later date.
