'Sweet Night Of Jazz' Coming To Darien's Middlesex Middle School

Whether you're a jazz aficionado or looking for an inspiring night of live music, this concert promises to deliver a great experience.

DARIEN, CT — Fans of jazz music are in for a treat as the "Sweet Night of Jazz" concert event brings an evening of performances to the Middlesex Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 6.

This free event will showcase talented young jazz musicians from Darien, joined by special guest artist Summer Camargo, a rising star in the jazz world.

A gifted trumpet player, Camargo is a recent Juilliard graduate and currently performs with the Saturday Night Live Band. At just 23 years old, she has already made a name for herself on the professional jazz scene in New York City.

Before the concert, she will be working with Darien elementary, middle and high school jazz students (grades 5-12), conducting a master class and Q&A session at MMS. This unique opportunity will give students a chance to learn from one of the best in the industry.

  • 5:50 p.m. – Arrival for MMS jazz members
  • 6 p.m.– Pre-concert masterclass & Q&A with Summer Camargo (parents welcome!)
  • 7 p.m. – Concert featuring performances by: 5-6 Jazz Lab, MMS Jazz Band, DHS Jazz Band

The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students to work with a professional musician of Summer’s caliber," said MMS Band Director Matthew Curley. "Not only will they get to hear what it's like to be a working Jazz musician, They'll get hear feedback from a professional and rehearse and perform with her."
