In 20 Days School's Been In Session, There's Been 33 COVID Cases

The majority of the cases in East Haven public schools have been seen in the high school and middle school.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven school district provides daily updates to its COVID-19 case tracker and, at school days'-end, shares that update with families.

And while the state Department of Public Health is now reporting schools case data from across the state weekly, here's what we know about cases in East Haven schools in the 20 school days since classes began Aug. 31.

There have been 33 positive COVID-19 cases in the district so far, with one a staff member and 32 students. And of that number, the majority of the positive cases have been at East Haven High School and James Melillo Middle School, though all elementary schools have not been spared, albeit with lower case numbers.

As of Monday Sept. 27, to date there have been no cases at Deer Run and Ferrara, two each at East Haven Academy and Tuttle and one at Momauguin. Overbrook Early Learning Center has had three cases.

But East Haven High School has reported 16 cases and eight cases have been reported in students at the middle school, with one staff case.
