EAST HAVEN, CT — Due to the power outage that has thousands without electricity, Mayor Joseph A. Carfora opened the Senior Center to allow people who need to charge devices to do so until 3 p.m.

There will be changing stations set up with 30 minute time limits at the 91 Taylor Ave., center. People should enter via the back entrance on Kirkham Avenue and be prepared to follow Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines including mask-wearing and strict adherence to social distancing guidelines. Temperatures will be taken on arrival.

Once the building capacity is met, people will need to wait outside for an available station.

Carfora said that "coffee and donuts will be offered to those using the stations," the former donated by Petonito's Pastry Shop.

"Please feel free to come down and use this service," Carfora said. "Let’s work together to keep our residents safe."
