EAST HAVEN, CT — Late Tuesday night, East Haven police units were dispatched to the area of 500 Main Street for a report of a domestic-related disturbance involving the discharge of a firearm, according to department spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.
Cops arrived and learned a domestic dispute between two had escalated into a physical altercation, and, during the incident, a "third party arrived on scene." According to Murgo, that "third party" allegedly, assaulted and attempted to strike Romario Lyle, 29, with a "large blunt wooden object."
Police said that Lyle, who is a "legal gun owner in possession of a legally registered handgun, discharged one round, striking the 'third party.'"

He was released from the hospital and no other injuries were reported during this incident, Murgo said.
Lyle was held on a $10,000 surety bond and was set to appear in New Haven Superior Court today.
