East Haven Fall Festival Kicks Off Friday On Town Green, Features Sunday Road Race, Car Show

EAST HAVEN, CT — The annual East Haven Fall Festival kicks off Friday at 5:30 p.m. on the Town Green. The festival runs through Sunday.

Here's what you need to know:

Festival hours: Friday: 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What's happening? Start with the Town's Youth Services Department's Teen Corner, open Friday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday: 10 to 9:30 p.m.

The fest features food vendors, craft vendors, games, amusements and rides.

Entertainment/stage schedule:

Friday: 6 p.m., Avenue Groove plays. At 7:30, Welcome to the Festival remarks. At 8:30, Voices of Rock takes the stage.

Saturday: At noon the Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase takes the stage. At 1 p.m., the East Haven High School Co-Op Marching Band performs. At 1:30, EHHS Vocal Production students perform. At 2 p.m., Students of Wagner Iovanna Vocal perform. At 3 p.m., Rock House School of Music All Star Band takes the stage. From 4:30 to 5:45 Rhythm City performs and from 6:15 to 7:30, it's the Heavy Hitters. At 8:15, Festival ceremonies. And at 8:30 Changes in Latitude, the Ultimate Tribute to Jimmy Buffett performs, to close out the day.

Sunday: At 12:30 Center Stage Dance Academy performs. At 2 p.m., Kennii (Kenny Araujo) performs. Closing out the festival, musically, is The Timmy Maia Experience at 4:30 p.m.

Also on Sunday, is the 30th Annual Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Last but not lease, the Fall Festival would not be complete without the East Haven Classic 5K Road Race.

All about the East Haven Classic 5K Road Race, Sunday

The East Haven Community Classic 5K Road Race is Sunday. The Fun Run is at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K starts at 8 a.m. The race starts and ends at the Town Green. It follows a flat, fast course which passes through residential neighborhoods and the East Haven business district, including by Town Hall and the historic Old Stone Church.

All proceeds from this event benefit the East Haven Police Athletic League, which provides wholesome, safe sports programs to East Haven youth.

Here's what to know about race day road closures:

Several roads in town will be closed on a rolling basis between 8 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., to ensure runner safety. Organizers provided some workarounds to "avoid any inconvenience."

Need to head out during the race window? Move your car north of Dodge Ave before 8 a.m.

Going to the airport? Use Charter Oak Ave to bypass closures.
