EAST HAVEN, CT— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Emma who nominated Laura Palmieri of East Haven.

What makes your mom extra special?

What makes my mom extra special is that she is one of the most kind and caring people I know. She always puts herself before others. Even if she is very busy, she always finds time to take me to my friend's house, take me and my sister shopping, etc. While managing taking care of me, my sister, and our three dogs, she also spends her time volunteering at an animal rescue. My mom is very fun to be around. She knows just how to put a smile on my face. My mom is also a great person to talk to. Whenever I have a problem she is the first person I tell and I know I can always count on her.

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

I feel like she deserves the spotlight because even if she is having a stressful day, she always puts my and my sister’s needs before her own, and sometimes the effort she puts into taking care of me and my sister goes unnoticed.

Happy Mother's Day to Laura Palmieri, and thank you for all you do!
