East Shore Health Dept. Shifts From 10-Day To 7-Day Quarantine

It changed the 10-day quarantine to a 7-day test-out quarantine option for unvaccinated people who are positive cases' close contacts.

BRANFORD, CT —Saying it believes the communities it covers are "becoming safer," the East Shore District Health Department has made a change in quarantine requirements.

Noting the decision was made in "partnership with the towns of and school districts of East Haven, North Branford, and Branford," the health department has shifted from the "10-day quarantine period to a 7-day test-out quarantine option for unvaccinated people identified as a close contact to a COVID positive case."

In its announcement, the health department noted that its "decision to move to a more flexible quarantine period was based on a thorough review of local COVID data, including our increasing vaccination rates."

But added that, "while this quarantine test-out option change does increase the risk of SARS-CoV2 transmission (COVID-19), we believe our community is becoming safer."

Please note: Fully vaccinated persons with no symptoms do not need to be quarantined if they are exposed to a COVID positive case. It is recommended by the CDC that the vaccinated persons monitor their health closely and get a COVID test between day 5 through day 7, as breakthrough vaccinated cases are possible. If a person has had a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the last 90 days and does not have symptoms, they do not need to quarantine.
