Fake Facebook Page Purporting To Be East Haven Middle School Account Posting Misinformation, Hoaxes: Cops

EAST HAVEN, CT — No matter how much they try, police cannot get a bogus Facebook account which purports to be related to East Haven Middle School to stop posting hoaxes and other misinformation.

"Despite multiple attempts, we have been unable to have it removed, and it appears there is no active moderator managing the content," police said.

For months, East Haven police have had to do its own Facebook posts to shut down rumors, misinformation, and hoaxes from being shared.

A recent hoax on the fake Facebook page reported that a female police officer was missing.

"Female police officer missing in East Haven. Be on the lookout. The police need help in locating female officer Caroline Aria Flores (27) who went missing yesterday morning. Her car was found last night with her daughter inside, but unfortunately there is still no sign of her. She is 5' 9" tall, 163 pounds. A silver alert has been issued for Katie, who is considered possibly an extreme danger and in need of medical assistance. We're asking for the community's help. It only takes two seconds to share."

It's a hoax, police said.
