'Has A Heart Of Gold': Patch East Haven Teacher Spotlight

EAST HAVEN, CT — Great teachers matter. In East Haven, we’re fortunate to have teachers like Jennie Distasio.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize teachers and show them how much they’re valued and appreciated.

This submission comes from Natasha Rentas, who nominated Jennie Distasio, her child's Pre-K teacher.

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Ms. Jennie pours her heart and soul into her students. She really discovers her students for who they are, and proactively helps them achieve their full potential, even at the tender ages of 3, 4 & 5. Ms. Jennie has helped my son and our family navigate his personal educational journey, and provided tools to really help him grow and flourish. She has been incredibly instrumental in helping my son begin his education on the best foot possible and working to his best abilities.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

She has a heart of gold! She cares so much for her students, and treats them as her own. She provided such reassurance to us as parents and peace and confidence to all the students and families in her room.
