I95 Head-On Truck Crash In East Haven Had 2 Rescued With Jaws-Of-Life
East Haven and Branford firefighters, medics rescued two from a box truck that crashed head-on into the divider just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Just after 6 p.m., traveling south on the Interstate near the merge of Frontage Road in East Haven, a box truck crashed head-on into a highway divider, Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli told Patch. The site is between exits 52 and 51, on I-95 South.
The two inside the truck were trapped, he said. The rescue required East Haven and Branford firefighters "to extricate them, using hydraulic rescue tools," Marcarelli said.
Both of the people inside the truck were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, he said, adding their conditions are unknown.

The southbound lane of the Interstate from exit 55 to exit 51 had congested traffic as a result, with the right and center lanes closed.
Update at 9:30 p.m.:
A little more than three hours after the crash, at 9:20 p.m., the state Department of Transportation tweeted emergency road work was cleared.
