Man, 54, Who Tried To Rob East Frontage Road Dunkin' Donuts Implying He Had A Gun, Caught, Charged: EHPD

EAST HAVEN, CT — Tuesday afternoon, police were called to the East Frontage Road Dunkin' for the report of a robbery, according to East Haven police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.

Police learned that a man walked into the doughnut shop, demanded money from as employee, and "implied he was in possession of a firearm."

"The employee fled through a rear door to safety, and the suspect fled the business moments later," Murgo said and added that no injuries were reported, and the suspect got no money.

East Haven police detectives "Quickly developed information linking the suspect to similar robbery attempts in nearby towns and developed vehicle information," Murgo said.

His car was found shortly after the robbery attempt on Foxon Road, police said. David Pulcinella, 54, of Meriden, "was taken into custody without further incident".

Murgo said that Pulcinella, "Ultimately confessed to his involvement in the East Haven robbery attempt, as well as other robberies in Guilford and Cromwell."

Pulcinella was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.

Pulcinella was held on a $250,000 bond and was due in court Wednesday.
