Marie (Coderre) Barrett obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Marie (Coderre) Barrett 79 of East Haven passed away November 14, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born August 22, 1946 in Burlington, VT to John and Elizabeth (Hardy) Coderre. Marie is survived by her devoted children: Raymond Averitt (Lauren), Rose Scinto (Ronnie), Trece BarrettDail (Jerry), Cindy Lawler (Michael), and Melissa Aguilar; along with eight grandchildren she adored: Elizabeth Young (Jon), Justin Averitt, Chellsey Wieliesz (Raymond), Jaclyn Rosebrock (Justin), Toby Barrett (Fran), Jo Lawler, Jake Aguilar and Leyna Aguilar. She had six great grandchildren she cherished: Aubrie Wieliesz, Tyler Wieliesz, Greyson Rosebrock, MaKenzleigh Rosebrock, Payton Rosebrock and Jonathan Young. She is also survived by siblings William Coderre, Roseann Saxon, and Gloria Silvia and her sister-in-law and dearest friend, Mary Coderre.

Marie is predeceased by her husband, the fork to her spoon, Richard Barrett (12/2021), as well as her parents.

An inspiring Girl Scout leader and unmatchable mother figure, she will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, kind heart, and nurturing soul. She was loved by all and will forever be missed by everyone who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a graveside service on Friday November 21, 2025 at 2 PM in Connecticut State Veteran Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown CT 06457. Marie will be laid to rest with her husband, Richard A. Barrett, a USMC veteran. Please gather at the cemetery office prior. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Girl Scouts of Connecticut, Attn: Fund Development, 20 Washington Ave., North Haven CT 06473 in memory of Marie Barrett.
