Richard Michael “Rich” Giannattasio Sr., 83, of Killingworth passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Born on September 29, 1942, in Stamford, Connecticut, to his parents Frank and Minnie Giannattasio. Rich lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and the things he loved most. A proud and hardworking man, Rich was the longtime owner of Milford Barrel Company Inc., which he operated with commitment and pride since 1972. His entrepreneurial spirit and tireless work ethic were hallmarks of his character and left a lasting legacy in the community he served for over five decades.
Rich had a love for his family, and was a true dog lover. He is lovingly remembered by his first wife and mother of his children, Norma Giannattasio; his sons Richard Giannattasio Jr., Anthony “Tony” Giannattasio and wife Andrea; daughter Jacqueline Hillman and husband Jason; son Joseph Giannattasio and wife Francesca. He was a devoted grandfather to Francesca Giannattasio, Anthony Giannattasio, Ava Giannattasio, Jason Hillman, and Gioia Giannattasio. He was predeceased by his second wife, Ruth Giannattasio and brothers John Giannattasio and Frank Giannattasio Jr., as well as his sister Marie Giannattasio White. Rich was known for his quick wit, sharp humor, and unfiltered honesty—traits that endeared him to those who knew him best. A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, Rich found joy in music that moved the soul. One of his greatest pleasures was visiting Newport, Rhode Island, his favorite place. He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His presence at family gatherings brought laughter, stories, and a sense of unity that will be deeply missed.
May Richard Michael “Rich” Giannattasio Sr’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who carry forward his legacy of hard work, humor, and heartfelt devotion.
