Rodent Infestation Causes Concern For Some In East Haven: Report

Some residents have reported property damage as a result of the infestation, according to a report by WTNH News 8.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Some residents in East Haven say they are concerned that there has been an infestation of rodents, according to a report by WTNH News 8.

More than a dozen rodents have been spotted recently along "Sydney Street, Forbes Place, Elm Court and Kimberly Avenue," according to WTNH News 8.

Some neighbors have noted that a hotel on Frontage Road was recently demolished, but an East Haven official told WTNH News 8 that there was no evidence of a rodent problem at the hotel prior to demolition.

Residents say they are observing property damage and feces over the past six weeks.

Health officials said they are willing to assist residents.

"Orkin ranked metro regions by the number of new rodent treatments performed from September 1, 2021, to August 31, 2022. This ranking includes both residential and commercial treatments," Orkin shared on its website. If you're curious who is No. 1, it is Chicago, followed by New York.

Outside of Hartford, no other Connecticut community was among the top 50, according to Orkin.
