House Fire Led To Extended Road Closure In East Haven

EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven Firefighters Local 1205 said that at 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, East Haven Public Safety was alerted to a structure fire on Foxon Road.

Upon arrival, members found a fire condition in the basement of a single family home. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and search for victims, encountering multiple holes in the first floor due to fire spread, fire officials said. The fire was brought under control and is currently under investigation.

The fire led to Route 80 being closed in both directions for an extended period of time, and it has since reopened.
