What You Need To Know About Saturday's 24th Annual East Haven Fireworks, Beach Bash

If weather shutters East Haven's Independence Day celebration, it will be held Monday, albeit sans fireworks and with limited entertainment.

EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven’s 24th annual Fireworks & Beach Bash, the town's Independence Day celebration, is set for Saturday.

"This event has become a signature celebration for East Haven," Mayor Joseph A. Carfora said. "It's a time when our community comes together at the beach to enjoy a great day and honor Independence Day. From fantastic bands to an incredible fireworks show, there’s truly something for everyone."

Featuring food trucks and vendors beginning at noon on Saturday, live music kicks off at 4 p.m., with fireworks set to go off at around 9 p.m.

99.1 PLR’s Eddie Sab will be on site with giveaways and music from the PLR tent.

The Rum Runners, at 7 p.m. until the fireworks and after. This year marks a new twist to the festivities — live music will continue after the fireworks. The Rum Runners will return to the stage for a second set following the fireworks' grand finale, at around 9:45 p.m.

Access to the Town Beach area will be limited starting at 9 a.m.

"As with past years, temporary traffic changes will be in effect to help manage the large crowds heading to and from the beach area," East Haven police wrote on Facebook, asking that folks review the traffic map about for information on one-way street designations, temporary 'Do Not Enter' zones and one side parking only areas.

"Parking is prohibited on the southbound side of Coe Avenue, between Austin and Bradford avenues. This is the side heading toward the beach. Please plan accordingly," police said.

Drivers should expect delays in and around the area, especially in the evening, police said.

"Your understanding helps ensure this remains a safe and enjoyable event for all."
