SOMERS, CT — The cause of a massive 3-alarm fire at Grower Direct Farms on Hampden Road Friday night is still under investigation, with some fire personnel still on scene as of early Saturday afternoon.

The blaze was reported as a structure fire at 7:38 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire rapidly spreading through the complex, intensified by strong winds and a lack of immediate water supply. Despite the challenging conditions, members of the Somers Fire Department, along with more than 20 mutual aid agencies, worked aggressively to contain the fire and prevent further damage. Their coordinated efforts successfully brought the blaze under control.

"The dedication and teamwork displayed by our firefighters and mutual aid partners was incredible," Somers Fire Chief David Lenart said. "Faced with strong winds and limited water supply, they overcame significant challenges to stop this fire."
