Ellington DPW Hosts Open House

The event is free and open to Ellington residents who are interested in learning about operations and becoming familiar with equipment care.

From Ellington DPW: In conjunction with National Public Works Week, the Ellington Department of Public Works (DPW) is hosting an Open House on May 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the DPW facility located at 21 Main Street. Ellington residents are invited and encouraged to attend!

This is a great opportunity to tour the DPW facility, meet the staff, ask questions, learn about operations and become familiar with the people and the equipment taking care of Ellington. DPW is the department of the Town that removes snow from all public town streets; maintains and operates storm sewers and other drains; cares for and maintains all Town buildings; prepares or supervises the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction or reconstruction of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm sewers, drains, public buildings and other structures; cares for parks including athletic fields and plants and cares for trees within the street line. DPW is also responsible for the Town's garbage and recycling program, among many other duties.

This event is great fun for the children! They can sit down on a piece of Town equipment or even take a ride in a plow truck and enjoy a hot dog with the crew! Please join us for this interesting and fun event and see all that goes on within your Town to keep Ellington functional and beautiful!
