Ellington and Somers Arrests Include Assault, Disorderly Conduct

June 27
Vincent D. Morgan was identified as a passenger within a motor vehicle that had been stopped for a violation along Pinney Street in Ellington. During the course of the stop, it was revealed that he had an active PRAWN warrant. At that time, Morgan, 21, of 19 Morris St. #30 in Hartford, was taken into custody and processed in accordance with state police procedures. He was charged with second-degree failure to appear and held on a court set bond.
On June 27 at approximately 3 a.m., troopers were conducting a patrol check of the Nutmeg Drive industrial complex in Ellington. As a trooper pulled into the rear of the industrial complex, he observed a white male, wearing a green shirt, walking among parked vehicles. The trooper called for additional units and was immediately assisted by two troopers, including one with a K9. The K9 was deployed for an area search and quickly located the subject in a wetlands area. Jeffrey T. Fortier, 24, of 2 Patriot Cir. in Ellington, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass and interfering with an officer.

June 30
At approximately 4 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a home on Mountain View Road in Somers to respond to a non-active assault that had taken place earlier. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Christopher T. Ladd, 41, of 9 Farmstead Cir. in Enfield. He was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct and was released from custody on a $5,000 cash/surety bond.

July 1
A vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection of West Road (route 83) and Lower Butcher Road in Ellington. When the light turned green, the vehicle began to proceed through the intersection, traveling southbound on West Road. As the vehicle entered the intersection, a bicyclist, traveling westbound on Middle Butcher Road ran a red light at the intersection of Middle Butcher Road and West Road. The vehicle and the bicyclist subsequently collided in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle sustained crush damage to the left front bumper. The operator, a 31-year-old Andover man, was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision and was transported to Rockville General Hospital for an evaluation. The bicyclist, a 16-year-old Ellington boy, sustained minor injuries to his face and legs and was transported to Rockville General Hospital for treatment. The teen was found at fault for the collision and was issued an infraction for failure to obey traffic control device.
