Ellington and Somers Arrests Include Harassment, Criminal Violation of a Restraining Order

The Connecticut State Police are investigating the theft of an orange colored Aries rototiller from a home on Pioneer Heights in Somers. The rototiller was taken sometime between 7:30 a.m. on July 2 and 11 a.m. on July 3. Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact Trooper O’Brien at 860-896-3200.

A vehicle was traveling east on Amy Lane in Ellington and approximately 100 yards east of Pinnacele Road, the vehicle traveled off the south roadway edge, getting stuck in a ditch. The vehicle was towed from the scene but there were no injuries reported in this motor vehicle accident. The operator, Zyta K. Szczepanski, 36, of 7 William St. in Agawam, subsequently failed a standard field sobriety test and was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Jose Ramos, 24, of 498 High St. in Middletown, was taken into custody by Middletown police and subsequently transported to Troop C in Tolland for an active arrest warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court, stemming from an investigation of a violation of a restraining order complaint in Somers. Ramos was charged with second-degree harassment and nine counts of criminal violation of a restraining order and is being held on a $75,000 cash bond. He was scheduled to appear on July 6.
