Fall Practice Begins: Ellington, Somers Team Titles, 2024 Schedules

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Fall sports practices officially begin today at Connecticut high schools, with hundreds of teams setting out on their quests for league and state championships.

Tim Percoski has taken over as Somers field hockey coach. All other head coaching positions remain intact from 2023.

Ellington High School's 14 fall state titles date back to 1971, while Somers has won nine state crowns since 2004. The Spartans' girls cross country squad is seeking its fourth straight Class S championship.

Here are the state championships won by Knight and Spartan teams in autumns past:

ELLINGTON

• boys soccer (6) - M: 2022, 2014, 2008, 2007; S: 1972, 1971
• boys cross country (4) - M: 2014; SS: 2005, 2004, 1996
• girls soccer (4) - S: 1997, 1992, 1990

SOMERS

• boys soccer (6) - S: 2015, 2014, 2011, 2010, 2008, 2004
• girls cross country (3) - S: 2023, 2022, 2021
