Kansas State Highlights Ellington Native On Men's Basketball Team
K-State Athletics has profiled Mike McGuirl of Ellington, the only returning senior on the Kansas State University men's basketball team.

ELLINGTON, CT — Kansas State University's athletics department has profiled Ellington native Mike McGuirl, calling him "the rock" of its men's basketball team.
McGuirl decided to utilize another season due to the coronavirus pandemic, making him the team's only returning senior, wrote D. Scott Fritchen of K-State Athletics in his report.
Though McGuirl's exact role on the court has not yet been determined, his experience and leadership skills will aid head coach Bruce Weber this season, Fritchen wrote.

"I don't know what I'll be doing, but I'm going be out there, and I'm going to be helping the team win in whatever fashion that looks like," Weber told reporters during a recent Zoom call, Fritchen reported. "If that's five assists, if that's 10 rebounds, whatever I'm called to do, I'm going to do it to help the team win. And so that's all I really strive (to do) is to help our team win."
