To the Editor:
Vote for Ann Logan, town clerk.
Ann Logan has been a resident of Somers for 36 years. She served as Assistant Town Clerk for thirteen years and then was elected to the position of Town Clerk sixteen years ago. In her 29 years in office, she has developed and demonstrated a deep understanding of Town Hall job functions and their integral needs for steerage in government regulations. She is known for effective customer service, trust, reliability, and dedication to her Town and the citizens she serves. She works tirelessly during every referendum, primary, and election, spending hours of her own time to service the needs of the public. In 2016, the registrars and Ms. Logan received a distinguished award for having enrolled one of the largest populations of voters in the State.

As Town Clerk, she has streamlined operations and provided online access to records including an on-line dog license tracking/notification system, on-line searchable land records system, computerized land recording with immediate upload, and an in-house scanning of documents. Ann has written grants and secured $60,000 for the Town Clerk’s office. These grants have allowed for the preservation and restoration of all land records and vital records.
Ann serves as the Freedom of Information Officer for the Town, based on her comprehensive understanding of the regulations. Ann initiated Document Retention bringing the Town into compliance with requirements. Becoming compliant provided the Town of Somers’ eligibility to apply for grants that would have otherwise been rejected.

In addition to her full- time job, Ann Logan serves the Town as a member of CERT, and during storms and emergencies volunteers in the shelter or emergency operations. She tirelessly works to stay certified and provides honest, timely feedback in her various roles. Her day to day work reflects professionalism, honesty, and efficiency.
Her opponent claims to share a vision of delivering transparency and technology to the office. The Town Clerk’s role under the State Statute and Town Charter is that of a contributor in discussions. It is not within the role or prevue of a Town Clerk. What you will get from Ann Logan as Town Clerk is a true understanding of statutes, and demonstrated capacity to manage all the facets and aspects necessary for this position. Town Clerk is a critical position. Ann’s twenty-nine years of service, knowledge, reliability and trustworthiness are admirable and she deserves re-election this year. Her voting record is 100%, demonstrating commitment to the Town in which she lives.
A vote for Ann Logan is a vote of confidence in her demonstrated ability to serve the Town of Somers and protect its valuable resources.
