To the Editor:
Dave Palmer is seeking his 6th term on the Board of Education. His solid experience from
both his Board of Ed position and as Associate Director of Business Development and
Strategy at United Technologies Aerospace Systems enables him to bring new ideas to
the Somers School District. Dave’s strong community service and relevant experience
continues to be needed on the Board of Ed.

Dave is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Education and previously served as
Chairman and Secretary. He is a respected leader who allows everyone to share his or
her opinion, mediates effectively and with compassion. When approached with
difficulties, Dave is always level headed and a very strong communicator. He seeks to
find neutral ground and satisfy the needs of many. As is true with any Board, the ability
to negotiate and act as a team is very important. Dave brings that form of leadership to
the Board, is not selfish, nor does he act for his own political gain.
Dave had been the BOE representative for public hearings at Finance Meetings, Plan of
Conservation and Development, and Long Range Planning. He is knowledgeable and
professional. I have always admired the way he presents to the public with authority and
openness and directness in response to questions. Dave has served as a member of the
Somers Fire Commission, coach for the Somers Ponytail Softball League; He also
coached both the Recreation Girls Basketball and Boys Little League baseball. Dave
always shows dedication to the Town of Somers.
