Letter: State Police Conduct Investigation

Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

To the Editor,

“Unqualified, unattended and naïve.” Those are the words that 1st Selectman Bud Knorr used to
describe his opponent in the November 7th election. Those words would best describe the recent
handling, by Bud Knorr’s office, of the termination of town police officer Jose Claudio.

First off, the Enfield Police Department, in arresting this officer had probable cause to make an
arrest. Secondly, prosecutors sought and issued a protective order, which is issued in more
serious cases of domestic violence. Further allegations of this officer’s sexual misconduct were
NEVER investigated by Mr. Knorr’s office.

“Unqualified, unattended, and naïve” best describes Mr. Knorr’s decision to rescind Officer
Claudio’s placement on administrative leave prior to the completion of Connecticut State Police
investigation. Mr. Knorr’s office failed to simultaneously complete his own investigation on these
matters.

Is there a “good old boy network” in Bud Knorr’s Somers? The residents of Somers have the
right to be not only embarrassed by this incident, but angry.
Bud Knorr thinks that he is entitled to remain 1st Selectman in Somers because he is an
incumbent. Bud Knorr is what is wrong with politics and politicians in particular. Somers deserve
better.
