ELLINGTON, CT — A tracking app was the key to locating a stolen phone — and the accused thief — in Ellington last week, state police said.

According to an arrest report, state police were dispatched to the Five Corners Dunkin' Donuts to investigate multiple vehicle-related thefts.

A cellphone tracking application was utilized in conjunction with a victim's iPhone and it led troopers to a nearby wooded area, where the thief was hiding, according to an arrest report.
