SOMERS, CT – A fire at an industrial building in the Somers Industrial Park was quickly contained by town and area firefighters Monday morning.

Around 7:17 a.m., the Somers Fire Department was dispatched to 40 Scitico Road for a reported fire inside a large industrial building, about 500 feet by 100 feet. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the rear unit of the structure. Crews quickly determined that the fire originated from a machine inside one of the occupancies and worked efficiently to extinguish it.

Several mutual aid departments responded to assist in the operation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
