Somers Residents Transfer Funds, Affirm Appointments

Voters got down to business on March 17, approving five items on a special town meeting call in less than 10 minutes.

At a special town meeting that can only be described as quick, residents voted to confirm the appointments of three people to fill vacancies on various land use commissions.

Those officially ready to serve include:

  • Donald W. Gaskell  on the Board of Assessment Appeals with a term to expire on Dec. 22, 2013.
  • John Kenneth Albert as a Planning Commission alternate with a term to expire on Dec. 22, 1011
  • Sam Smith on the Zoning Commission with a term to expire on Dec. 22. 2015.

Soon after the group also approved the appropriation of $56,250 from the town's PILOT grant account to two other line items to cover costs associated with the massive amounts of snow that needed to be removed from municipal property and atop buildings in January and February.
