Somers School Closed After Staffer Has Positive Coronavirus Test

SOMERS, CT — Classes at Somers Elementary School have been canceled Wednesday and Thursday after a staff member working with pre-kindergarten students tested positive for coronavirus, according to an announcement from Superintendent of Schools Brian Czapla.

"The health and well-being of our students, staff and families continues to be our first priority," Czapla wrote. "During these next few days, we will thoroughly sanitize the building, conduct our contact tracing, communicate with impacted families, and develop plans accordingly."

Classes will continue as scheduled at the high school and middle school.
