Somers Voters Decide Fate Of 2025-26 Fiscal Year Budget At Referendum
Less than 13 percent of the town's registered voters turned out at the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots.

SOMERS, CT — By a margin of nearly 2 to 1, registered voters in Somers approved the town's budget request of $41,816,120 for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The requested budget was a 5 percent increase over 2024-25's allotment of $39,826,728.
523 residents voted in favor of the budget, while 286 were opposed.

Of the town's 6,449 eligible voters, only 809, or 12.54 percent, turned out at the polls.
The biggest bump was in the Board of Education's budget of $30,476,322, which represents an increase of $1,637,489, or 5.68 percent, over 2024-25. Education is responsible for 73 percent of the total town budget.

Town operations also went up by $350,441, or 3.92 percent.
