Teenage Girl Severely Burned In Somers Fireworks Accident
Two people were injured when an illegal fireworks display stand tipped over and launched toward a crowd, according to the Somers fire chief.
SOMERS, CT — A teenage girl suffered severe burns to her chest following an incident late Tuesday night involving illegal fireworks.
The Somers Fire Department was dispatched to a house on Springfield Road at 10:50 p.m. upon a report that a 16-year-old girl had sustained chest injuries in a fireworks accident. Investigation revealed two people had been injured when an illegal fireworks display stand tipped over and launched toward a crowd, Fire Chief John Roache said.
The injured girl was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she was stabilized. She was then flown to a burn center in Boston, Roache said.

A second patient was treated on scene, the chief said.
A fire and explosives investigation unit from the Connecticut State Police is investigating the incident, Roache said.
