Assisting Needy Cats Earns Gold Award For Enfield Girl Scout
The highest honor in Girl Scouts will be bestowed upon a senior from Enfield High School in the coming weeks.

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield High School senior Dilyn Parrott is the only town Girl Scout slated to receive the Gold Award this year, and she earned it by helping needy animals.
Parrott, who will turn 18 next month, built six winter shelters for the largest feral cat colony cared for by the Enfield Community Cat Project. Her efforts are aiding 22 felines.
"We have always fostered in our house, from greyhounds to cats," her mom, Kelly, told Patch, adding that her daughter's final interview in the Gold Award process came in mid-April while the family was on a cruise ship in Mexico.

Dilyn began scouting while in kindergarten, and is a 13-year member of Troop 10682. She earned her Bronze Award in 2015 after two years of promoting kindness to animals, and created a graphic novel section at the St. Bernard School library in 2018 to claim her Silver Award.
She will be pinned with the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts, in the coming weeks. As she bridges into adult status, she will attend Manchester Community College for two years, then transfer to the University of Hartford, where she will pursue a dual degree in illustration and criminal justice forensics.
