Road Closed In Enfield After Tree Snaps Telephone Pole
Enfield police report six trees down across town with varying traffic impacts.
ENFIELD, CT — A storm bringing periods of rain and strong winds moved through Connecticut on Friday, contributing to downed trees and a road closure in Enfield, police say.
According to an email from Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox, six trees were reported down around town, creating varying traffic impacts. No injuries or motor-vehicle accidents have been reported in connection with the storm.
According to police, the most significant issue remains on Post Road, where the roadway is currently blocked between Overhill Road and Phoenix Avenue after a fallen tree snapped a telephone pole and obstructed the roadway. Eversource crews are responding to the scene.

Eversource reported that roughly 55,000 customers lost power statewide as the storm moved through, largely due to wind-related damage to trees and utility infrastructure.
Police are urging residents to use caution while traveling, avoid downed wires, and expect delays in areas affected by fallen trees and utility work.
