Enfield Mother's Quick Response Saves 8-Year-Old Girl

Police confirmed an 8-year-old Enfield girl survived a near-drowning accident.

Enfield Police Sgt. Dan Casale has confirmed that an 8-year-old Enfield girl survived a near-drowning incident at her family's home at 31 Spruceland Road Saturday night.

According to police, the girl was swimming under her mother's supervision at the home, listed as being owned by James and Michelle McKelligan, when her hair became caught on the pool's ladder during an attempt to retrieve a toy that had sunk to the bottom.

Noticing that her daughter had not returned to the water's surface, the mother pulled her out of the water and administered CPR with the help of the girl's father, police said.
