Enfield Sewer Main Cleaning Could Impact Nearby Homes

Residents in Enfield are being advised to take preventive steps while sewer mains are cleaned and inspected over the coming weeks.

ENFIELD, CT — Town officials are advising residents in several neighborhoods to take precautions as sewer main cleaning and inspection work continues in Enfield over the coming weeks.

According to the Town of Enfield Water Pollution Control Division, crews will be cleaning and inspecting sewer mains Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Officials said the work may cause temporary pressure in the sewer system that could force water out of toilets, showers, tubs, sinks, or basement floor drains inside homes.

The town noted that sewer cleaning may evacuate water from plumbing traps. After work is completed, residents are encouraged to run water in all toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, and floor drains to refill the traps, which helps prevent sewer odors from entering homes.

Officials said the work will continue over several weeks, and schedules may change due to weather or operational needs.
