ENFIELD, CT — After 34 years as executive director of Enfield Loaves & Fishes, Priscilla Brayson retired in June, leaving some big shoes to fill. Stepping into that role is Maya Nicole Matthews, former assistant to the Enfield town manager.

"It is a privilege to work with the volunteers who are the backbone of this organization that does so much good for the town," Matthews said in a written statement.

Matthews, who lives in Enfield with her son Kaleb, spent 10 years providing administrative support to town government. She is vice president of Opera House Players Inc., a community theater organization based in Enfield, and a member of the Connecticut Science Center Gala Committee.

Ty Heaward has also been hired as assistant director. He recently moved from Maine to Suffield, and has a degree in accounting. He previously worked for a non-profit lender, where he spent a year helping local Maine communities and businesses obtain much-needed loans and funding to survive the pandemic.

"I may have only moved here a few months ago, but it did not take long to get a sense for how unique and passionate the Enfield community is," Heaward said.
