ENFIELD, CT — Two neighboring undeveloped parcels totaling just over 200 acres, on the grounds of the former Hallmark Cards property on Bacon Road, have been acquired by online retailer Amazon, according to Enfield land records.

Winstanley Enterprises, which bought the property at 25 and 35 Bacon Road in summer 2016 following the closure of Hallmark's distribution facility, sold the roughly 203.5 acres to Amazon for $20 million. The deed was recorded in the town clerk's office last Wednesday, according to land records.

The land has been approved by Enfield officials several years ago for construction of an 819,000 square-foot warehouse. Opposition from neighbors in the Shaker Pines Lake area was strong, resulting in a court case which was decided in favor of Winstanley.
