Live music, good food, exciting rides, and an expanded offering of games of skill and chance will highlight the return of St. Jeanne Jugan Parish’s carnival, to be held Thursday, June 2; Friday, June 3; and Saturday, June 4, on the St. Bernard Church grounds at 424 Hazard Ave.

The carnival will run from 6 to 10 p.m. each day, featuring carnival rides, with wrist bands for sale every evening for $20 that provide unlimited access to the fairground’s rides, or individual ride tickets. There will be a wide variety of food, including fried dough, French fries, doughnuts, strawberry shortcake and sundaes; craft beer provided by Powder Hollow Brewery; and hamburgers, hot dogs, and grinders provided by Danny’s Pizza. There will also be booths featuring skill games and a selection of state-sanctioned games of chance on the carnival’s midway, including Kirplunk, as well as an expanded kiddie land.

Performing Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. will be the Savage Brothers, a band founded in 1984 in the basement of the family’s Windsor Locks home that has performed over 5,000 concerts across the Northeast. This rock rhythm group is led by one of the founding brothers, vocalist and drummer Michael Savage, and also features sax and trumpets as well as guitars, keyboard, and bass.

There also will be a DJ, Mark Veilleux, on Thursday and a performance Friday by Enfield’s own Dukes of Hazardville, a duo performing their own variety of acoustic rock music.

The drawing for the annual parish raffle will be held Saturday, June 4, at 9:30 p.m. Prizes to be awarded in the raffle drawing are Visa gift cards in the amounts of $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000. Tickets cost $5 apiece and may be purchased from parish families or at the rectory, as well as at the carnival itself each night.

The carnival is organized by St. Jeanne Jugan parishioners and supported not only by them but also by area businesses and the larger community. For more information about the carnival, call the St. Bernard Church rectory, 860-749-8353.
