ENFIELD, CT — A restaurant chain which opened in Enfield to considerable fanfare less than two months ago has been temporarily closed following an unsatisfactory inspection by the North Central District Health Department.

Teriyaki Madness, which specializes in chicken-based bowls as well as steak and salmon teriyaki bowls, closed its location at 7 Hazard Avenue late last week following the March 3 inspection.

A sign in the doorway informs customers of the temporary closure. On its social media pages, the restaurant posted the following notice:

"Our shop is temporarily closed as we take the necessary time to retrain our employees and make operational improvements. We are confident that our shop will open better than ever, and we thank you for your support and understanding during this time!"

According to an inspection report, the site was deemed to be in non-compliance with regulations for food and beverage storage, labeling, fruit and vegetable preparation, allergen alerts, cleaning supplies, staff sanitation and supervision.

The franchise owners are working with employees and the health district to correct the violations. A re-inspection will then be conducted before the restaurant is permitted to again open its doors.
