Chemical Removal Underway at Bronson Road Home
Private contractor hired by homeowner to execute removal.

Chemical removal is currently underway at 1625 Bronson Road in Fairfield by a private contractor.
The contractor was hired by homeowner Joseph Callahan under the supervision of the State and Local Fire Marshals Office and Fairfield Police and Fire personnel, according to Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Tracy.
The home was recently deemed secure after police seized 274 guns, numerous pounds of ammunition and several explosives from the home, according to Deputy Police Chief Chris Lyddy. The explosives were described as larger than a firework, with explosive power above an M-80, but below a stick of dynamite.

Monday, Callahan was charged with one count of manufacturing a bomb, 11 counts of illegal possession of explosives and six counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.
