Fairfield police caught two suspects allegedly in the act of stealing from vehicles in the Jackman Avenue neighborhood early Wednesday.
Officer Christopher Mastronardi was on routine patrol around 2 a.m. Wednesday. He was looking out for suspicious activity in the neighborhoods, which had recently been plagued by thefts from cars, according to Police Capt. Joshua Zabin.

Mastronardi spotted a vehicle that appeared to have been entered. Responding officers saturated the neighborhood until Officer Charles Ricco found two suspects on bikes.
The suspects -- identified as Romario Henry, 18 of Bridgeport, and a 15-year-old male from Bridgeport -- had allegedly stolen bicycles from an Edgewood Place property's backyard and broken into cars in the neighborhood.

Police found they were in possession of a Verizon cell phone and a purse, neither of which belonged to the suspects, Zabin said.
Henry and the juvenile were both charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit those crimes. They were both released on promises to appear in court. The juvenile was signed over to a parent.
There were several other reports of thefts from cars in the area around the time of the arrest, according to Zabin, though Henry and the juvenile have not been charged with those thefts at this time.
