Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No one in my family works in government.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I've never held public office before.
Why are you seeking this office?
If elected, I will work across the aisle to modernize, develop, and redevelop and modernize Fairfield's commercial zones in a way that protects the town's historic charm and also allows for responsible, smart, and strategic growth and continued beautification while working to reduce taxes. As a longtime Greenfield Hill resident, I believe we must work together to preserve the historic charm of our beautiful town while allowing for sensible modernizations that serve us all, increase property values, reduce taxes by bolstering commercial revenues, and foster community engagement and revitalization.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
the property tax burden and access to affordable housing for young people starting out and older people looking to downsize and yet remain close to family. I intend to work with the TPZ board to help commercial developers find ways to revitalize antiquated commercial districts to allow for residential and live/work spaces on the floors above first-floor commercial spaces to increase overall tax revenues while working strategically to lower individual taxes.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am team player who believes in working across the aisle to find common sense solutions that serve the community in innovative and smart ways. I believe in taking action for the betterment of our community as opposed to constantly obstructing progress in ways that create unintended and unchecked development due to a lack of actual oversight and a failure to actively plan.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I intend to work to fight against the latest proposed United Illuminating monopole project, develop solutions to better mitigate traffic congestion, and I've been reaching out to the community to understand specific issues facing them that we can work to resolve in forward-planning.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I negotiate deals for a living both in transactional contract work and in litigation. My success is due in large part to my perseverance and ability to understand both sides of an issue. I develop strategies that allow my clients to get their needs met while providing context for the other side that they might not have considered.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
When someone asks you for help, never say, "That's not my job."
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I grew up in Fairfield since I was a two-year-old in 1981. I've seen much change in this community, but I've also seen it's most wonderful qualities flourish. My goal is to support Fairfield in remaining the remarkable town we all know it to be, maintaining its historic New England charm, while also empowering the community to modernize and develop in ways that bolster community engagement and bring more people together.
